About
Himanshi Karol’s yoga journey began as a child, inspired by her mother’s practice. Later, when she embarked on formal training in contemporary and jazz dance, she truly began to realise the holistic mental and physical health benefits of a consistent yoga practice.
Today, Himanshi is a certified teacher in the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin yoga, as well as pregnancy and postnatal yoga. She trained and received a teaching certification from the Indeayoga Institute in Mysore, India, where she also studied the anatomy of the human body to inform her teaching.
Expertise
Pre-natal & post-natal Yoga
Himanshi helps expectant mothers deal with the stress, anxiety and emotions associated with pregnancy through a specialised pre and post-natal yoga practice. Yoga is proven to support mental health during pregnancy and ease birth. After pregnancy, yoga helps to rebalance hormones and tone the body back into shape.
Yin Yoga
Himanshi is certified in Yin yoga. This gentle and meditative form of yoga is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. Yin yoga is supported by the use of props and moderate, passive poses that offer a deeper stretch to the tendons, fasciae and ligaments of the body to improve mobility and reduce stress.
Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga
Himanshi is certified in Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha yoga. Both Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha yoga offer numerous benefits including improved flexibility, strength, balance, stress reduction and mental clarity. The choice between them often depends on your personal preference and goals.
Sound Healing
Himanshi is a certified Sound Healer. Sound healing is a practice that uses vibrations and frequencies to promote relaxation, reduce stress and improve overall well-being. It often involves instruments like singing bowls, tuning forks and gongs to create harmonic sounds that are believed to positively impact the body and mind. These sessions help in restoring balance, improve the immune system and support people living with chronic diseases.
“When your body, breath and focus are perfectly aligned in an asana,
your muscles are engaged, your body is relaxed and your mind is at ease.
In this state, you discover a joyful balance of tension and release,
effort and effortlessness”
~ Himanshi Karol
Philosophy
Himanshi views yoga as a journey beneficial for physical and spiritual growth. Drawing from the yoga sutras of Patanjali, she believes yoga stills the mind and enables the union of the self with the divine. Through her own transformative experience, Himanshi encourages her students to commit to a regular practice that fosters mental clarity, stability and improves quality of life.
Approach to Teaching
Himanshi's teaching is informed by her knowledge of the human anatomy and is personalised according to each student's ability. She focuses on the systematic practice of asanas that provide optimal health benefits for students at all levels. Her approach to teaching enhances strength, flexibility, injury prevention and rehabilitation, while also facilitating self-exploration and connection.
Aim
Himanshi’s aim as a yoga practitioner is to offer her students a practice they can adopt not just as a form of exercise but as part of an overall healthy lifestyle for their body and mind.
